It’s time for Haute Route Dolomites

Hundreds of riders from across the globe arrived in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy today to register for Haute Route Dolomites, the first of the European events for the 2019 Haute Route series.

The atmosphere in the race village was a mix of excitement and anticipation, as riders came to collect their bibs and riders pack ahead of the 213km of cycling and 8,230M+ of climbing that lies ahead over the next 3-days.

With this sell-out event starting in one of the most luxurious mountain towns in the world and riding over the most recognisable climbs of the Dolomites, find out what some of the riders had to say ahead of the first stage on Friday:

“It is really nice to be here in the event village and there is a great atmosphere amongst the riders. This is my first event of the season with Haute Route so I can’t wait to find out what the Dolomites are all about.
- Aaron Cooper, UK

“We absolutely loved Haute Route Stelvio last year and loved everything about Italy too so we decided to come back and give the Dolomites a go. It has some beautiful climbs which I will try my best to enjoy whilst doing as well as I possibly can throughout the course”
- John Mcgrane, Iceland

“This is my first Haute Route but I want to try and be in the top ten. I also have an infinity pass so I will be looking to keep improving my performance”
- Louis-paul Niemerich, France

“I only started cycling 18 months ago and now I am about to take on my second Haute Route. I am absolutely delighted to be here as this was all just a dream for me a few years ago when I came across the Haute Route videos online. Can’t wait for tomorrow”
- Stephen Mcateer, Dubai
