Haute Route Oman 2020 - Stage Descriptions

Stage 1: Golden Tulip Nizwa – Jebel Akhdar
84KM / 3000M+

The iconic Jebel Akhdar – the Green Mountain – and its 3,000m+ climb averaging 10.3% remains at the heart of Stage 1, offering the only opportunity to take on one of the most thrilling climbs in Gran Fondo cycling.

Stage 2: Golden Tulip Nizwa – Golden Tulip Nizwa
140KM / 2320M+

The second day of the event will deliver one of the best cycling climbs in the Middle East. The ascent of Jebel Hatt presents riders with an undulating 23km climb to the summit, which sits at 2,000m. Set to reward every rider as they reach the turning point at the summit of Stage 2, are the awe-inspiring panoramic views of Wadi Bani Awf and Snake Canyon.

Stage 3: Tanuf – Misfat Al Abriyeen

28KM / 445M+

Completing the Haute Route experience is the Individual Time Trial. Rider feedback following the 2019 event has resulted in the organisers extending Stage 3 from 9km to 28km. The start line will be staged in the shadow of the ancient ruins of the lost city of Tanuf, with the course taking the riders along a fast, flat section that journeys through lush green plantations towards Al Hamra, followed by the challenge of a steep 4km climb to the finish in Misfat Al Abriyeen.
