21km | 1600m D+ · Sunday 7th October
The third and final stage on the Sunday is the ultimate test of character. Man vs Mountain. You vs the Mont Ventoux. Taking on the third side of the mountain in the space of just three days this is your chance to conquer one of the most famous climbs in all of cycling, the ascent of Ventoux from Bédoin.
Setting off down the start ramp at 20s intervals in reverse order of the general classification, each and every rider will time trial up the Mont Ventoux to become finishers of the second edition of the Haute Route Ventoux.
The climb in itself is not to be underestimated. The first 5km to Saint-Estève are relatively rolling and a perfect way to warm up for what is to come. Once you hit the hairpin and enter the woods however the road ramps up abruptly to an average of 10% for the next 5km. The road eases off slightly towards the Chalet Reynard, and then ramps up again as it did on stage one for the final 6km to the summit at 1912m. Once you enter the final kilometre you can start to empty the tank and give it your all until you reach the finish line where you will become a finisher and collect your coveted finishers’ medal.
Stage 3 – Alternative Route
This time trial stage is identical to the full route, but rather than riding all the way to the summit of Ventoux, you will be able to stop at Chalet Reynard.
The stage cols will be available soon
