Having hosted a stage of the Haute Route Alps every year since its inception in 2011, Megève has stepped up in 2018 to become the Grand Départ for the Haute Route Alps on Sunday August 26th. On the first stage the international peloton will set off for a 111km loop with 2,900m of climbing over famous cols such as the Col d’Aravis and Colombière, but also the lesser known Col de Romme and the famed Côte de Domancy where Bernard Hinault became world champion in 1980. The final ascent of the day to Côte 2000 will see riders finish above Megève at 1,495m before heading back down to town.

Many cycling competitions
In summer, Megève has a significant role in the cycling world with an indisputable and a unique program of international competitions. Between the massifs of Mont Blanc and the Aravis, the roads of Megève welcome, every summer, cycling races eagerly awaited, such as the Time Megève Mont-Blanc, the MB Race Culture Vélo (stage of the marathon mountain bike World Cup) and of course the Haute Route Alps.
Megève has been a host town on the Tour de France 2016 and has been also the city of departure, the same year, of the cyclosportive L’Étape du Tour.
Megève provides also many marked trails that allow all the riders (road bike, mountain bike, electric bike or fat-bike enthusiasts) to enjoy the unique Megève landscapes.
